Shoe Bank Canada desperately needs more donated shoes

With the imminent onset of winter, Shoe Bank Canada has put out a plea for more winter footwear on social media.

“Many of the shelves in our free shoe store are empty,” explained Shoe Bank Canada co-founder Jim Belshaw.

“We are particularly short on men's running shoes, winter boots, hikers and work boots. We are turning dozens of people away every week.”

The response from communities around the country has been positive, although for an organization who’s mission is to ensure that no Canadian goes without a decent pair of shoes, donations are always needed.

For those who have an extra pair or two of shoes laying around the house there are multiple locations in Kelowna and Kamloops that are accepting donated shoes on behalf of Shoe Bank Canada.

The Capital News Centre in Kelowna, the Brock Shopping Centre in Kamloops and all Tom Harris Cellular locations, Capri Insurance locations and Starbucks Coffee shops around the province have drop off bins.

A complete list of locations can be found here.
