British Columbia Mounties are searching for a man suspected of a random stabbing over the weekend.
The man, described as black and wearing a ball cap and grey hoodie, is alleged to have knifed his 28-year-old victim at about 9 pm on Sunday.
The incident occurred near White Rock Pier, the RCMP said in a public notice.
“Based on initial information, police do not believe that parties were known to each other or that there was any confrontation prior to the incident,” the post reads.
The victim was taken to hospital by paramedics and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police added.
White Rock RCMP said it is “actively exploring all avenues of investigation” to identify the suspect.
“There were many people in the area and we are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or was taking photos/videos in the area to contact police,” Staff Sergeant Rob Dixon said in the notice.
“Public safety is a priority so we are asking the public to assist us in our investigation to identify the suspect to prevent further incidents.”
