RCMP are investigating after the body of a woman was found in a vehicle submerged in Griffin Lake.
The Revelstoke RCMP said that they received a report of a submerged vehicle in the lake on Aug. 21, 2019, just after 9:30 a.m.
RCMP said they were led to the site by residents in the area, and the vehicle was found about 10 feet from the shore.
Police said that it appeared as though the vehicle had been in the water for some time.
On August 24, a local tow company with RCMP Investigators and the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team returned to the lake and recovered the older model Honda Accord, with the body of an adult woman inside.
“At this time, investigators are working closely with the BC Coroners Service to confirm the woman’s identity,” said S/Sgt. Janelle Shoihet, of the BC RCMP. “Early indicators are that her death does not involve criminality.”
The RCMP added that no further information about the investigation is available at this time.
