Beach Nudists Outed on Penticton Shaming Website

A group called the Coalition of Concerned Neighbours and Families From 3 Mile Road have built a website to publicly shame people who trespass to a nude beach in Penticton.

The website, 3milebeach.com, is dedicated to showcasing those who ignore trespassing signs and use the beach for personal use. Videos and photos of the trespassers are posted on the site and it even includes the name of some people, including someone that is accused of stealing one of the hidden cameras.

The photos date back to at least the beginning of September, 2014 and there are nearly 200 photos potsted.

“The people below have all walked around fences and past a minimum of 5 posted ‘No Trespassing’ signs,” reads the website. “Some are naked and are in violation of section 174 of the criminal act. There has also been a plethora of sexual encounters ads on Craigslist. Help us identify these trespassers and email us with information.”

Controversy has been swirling around the beach location since the summer time as the property owner has posted no trespassing signs, put up a fence and tried hiring security to keep the naked swimmers out. The owner says the nudists are ruining attempts to sell the property.

Meanwhile another group of supporters are trying to keep the beach just as it is, one of the last of its kind in the Okanagan. A petition has been started in an attempt to get the city to help keep the unofficial beach clothing optional. It’s unclear what will happen at this point with the beach, but according to the Penticton City Council agenda, one of the property owners will be in attendance.

KelownaNow reached out to the Penticton RCMP to see if the website is a problem or illegal and if they are investigating, but calls were not returned.
