“It is with heavy heart that Boonstock Productions Inc would like to inform you that the Boonstock Music and Arts Festival will not be returning to Penticton,” read the Boonstock Facebook page. “We appreciate all the love and support we have received from all you Boonstockers over the last ten years.”
The Facebook post gave no explanation for pulling out of Penticton.
Boonstock Festival was held in Penticton during the first weekend of August in 2014.
During last year’s festival, a young woman died from a suspected overdose.
The Penticton RCMP were concerned for public safety following the death of this young woman.
In addition, Boonstock was denied a liquor licence only months before their scheduled 2014 festival dates. Apparently safety concerns were not addressed.
Organizers tried to resolve the liquor licence fiasco, but the festival went ahead without booze.
