The Columbus Blue Jackets announced on Friday that they have signed Kelowna Rockets forward Calvin Thurkauf to a three-year entry level contract.
Thurkauf was the Blue Jackets’ seventh-round pick, 185th overall, in the 2016 NHL draft.
The Switzerland native has 17 goals and 31 points in 28 games so far this season, good for second on the team in both categories.
He also has 47 penalty minutes, which is second on the team as well.
Thurkauf is currently serving as the captain for Team Switzerland at the 2017 World Juniors where he has posted a pair of goals and an assist in two games so far.
He'll return to the Rockets in the new year, once Switzerland’s tournament comes to an end.

He left the team almost immediately after earning WHL player of the week honours in early December after a stretch that saw him post eight goals and 10 points in his final four games before the break.
The Thurkaufless Rockets host the Victoria Royals on Friday night to wrap up their 2016 schedule.
