Bad Start for the Warriors Led to Eagles Victory

Kicking the game off with a high glove side shot on Andy Desautels, the Surrey Eagles claimed the first goal of the night against the West Kelowna Warriors on Sunday.

Maintaining the heat, Surrey kept at it with an assist from Latrell Charleson and a goal from Quinn Lenihan. It wasn't until five minutes into the second period that the Warriors managed to get on the board. After his initial shot was blocked, Braeden Jones fired another hard one towards goalie Christian Short, putting the Warriors on the board with a 2-1 score.

Taking advantage of a bad play on behalf of the Eagles, Kylar Hope slapped one in past Short. Things were looking up for the Warriors when Cole Plotnikoff stole the puck and put the Warriors only two behind the Eagles.

In the third period, the Warriors were turning up the heat as they buried a power-play goal, bringing the score up to 4-3 for the Eagles.

Although the Warriors were hot on their trail, the Eagles remained resilient and managed to get one by the Warrior goal tender.

Now 5-3, the Warriors managed to land one more goal with only 4:30 minutes remaining, however; they fell short of a tying goal, leading to the Eagles 8th win of the season.

West Kelowna Warriors finished their tour with just a single point loss to Powell River on Saturday night.

Warriors are scheduled to get back in action on Friday night in Merritt, as they take on the Centennials at 7:30 p.m.
