Rockets Close off Road Trip With 5-1 Dominating Win Over the Kootenay Ice

A bit of a reunion for the World Junior champions, Madison Bowey, Josh Morrissey and Sam Rienhart of the Kootenay Ice in Cranbrook as the Rockets matched up with the Ice for their only meeting of the regular season.

It didn't take long for the Rockets to spoil the reunion though, with Tyrell Goulbourne and Rourke Chartier teaming up on a two on one short-handed. Chartier just reached out for Goulboure's pass and tapped his 41st past Wyatt Hoflin.

Cole Martin, Leon Draisaitl and Gage Quinney would add one more each to give the Rockets a 4-0 lead before the Ice would get one on the power-play in the final ten seconds of the period.

The Rockets held Rienhart, the second overall pick in last year's NHL draft off the score sheet ending his ten game point streak.

The second was a flatter period for both teams, only 13 shots in total, eight of them for the Rockets. Dillon Dube slid one past Hoflin to make it 5-1 Rockets at the end of the period.

No scoring in the third period. Jackson Whistle was solid in his 30th win of the season. Only one of the 26 shots he faced beat him.

The 5-1 win for the Rockets makes them 3-0-0-1 on the four game road trip out east. The only loss coming at the hands of the Edmonton Oil Kings in a shoot-out.

The Rockets now head home and get close to week off before taking on the Kamloops Blazers at Prospera Place on Friday night.
