The visiting Thompson Rivers WolfPack won both games against the Heat basketball teams on Friday night.

The men had a tough game against the WolfPack, despite a strong start by the Heat. After ten minutes, UBC Okanagan had a 19-16 lead with special thanks to Mitch Goodwin, Ryan Morck, and Aldrich Berrios. They maintained this lead 34-33 going into the half with some hot shooting and coordinated defense.

However, the first five minutes of the third made all the difference, with the WolfPack shooting up from one point behind to leading by 19. The fourth quarter saw a lot of back and forth as the Heat tried to make up the ground, but Thompson Rivers took the game 80-60.

Buzz Truss was the Heat's Player of the Game with 13 points and five rebounds. Goodwin had eight points, and Cameron Friesen had 13 points in 14 minutes. The Heat now fall to 2-13, while the WolfPack advances to 9-6.

The Heat women didn't quite manage a win either against the visiting WolfPack. The scoring was close in both the first and second quarters, with the Heat trailing only 33-31 coming out of the half. However, like in the men's game, the WolfPack hit hard in the third for 20-9. Though the Heat's Shenelle Tamminen had a couple quick three-pointers to start off the fourth, that and a 12-5 run wasn't enough to push the WolfPack out. The game finished at 72-59 for Thompson Rivers.

Tamminen had 13 points for the night, with Jessica Jazdarehee leading the Heat with 14 points. The Player of the Game was Claire Elliot with eight points, seven rebounds, and a strong defense. The Heat dropped to 4-11 with the game while the Thompson Rivers continues to lead the Explorer Division 14-1.

The Heat and the WolfPack will rematch on Saturday night at UBC Okanagan gymnasium.
