Canucks Out of Playoffs After 7-4 Loss to the Flames

Vancouver Canucks fans are disappointed once again after their team lost the chance for a first Stanley Cup.

The Canucks were eliminated Saturday night in Game 6 against the Calgary Flames, taking a 7-4 loss after the Flames had a third-period comeback. Though the Canucks started off strong with a 3-0 lead at 9:42 in the first, Michael Ferland started snipping at the lead late in the same period. The Flames kept the heat going in the second, scoring twice in just 4:33 to even it up at 3-3.

However, the Canucks weren’t ready to give up there. Luca Sbisa, Canucks defenseman, snuck a goal past Karri Ramo midway through the second for 4-3 going into the third.

That, however, is where the Flames took over. The Calgary team soon tied it up, with forward Matt Stajan making a goal at 4:17 to take the Flames’ first lead at 5-4. From there, the Flames took two empty-net goals to take the game 7-4.

This loss eliminated the Canucks from the series 4-2, while the Flames will be moving on to the second round of the playoffs against the Anaheim Ducks.
