It is raining in the Okanagan but snow is falling at the top of Whistler Mountain, 30 centimetres of the white stuff to be exact.

The summer snowfall occurred overnight and blanketed the Whistler Peak, leaving many excited for the upcoming ski season.

Temperatures elsewhere in the province have reached the mid to high 30s while at the top of the mountain at the popular ski resort temperatures hover around the freezing level. But it’s business as usual in the village as mountain bikers enjoy a day at the trail park.

This weekend the mountain town will host the Subaru Ironman Canada but athletes do not have to fear the winter weather. The course is nowhere near the white stuff, and the weather is expected to cooperate for participants.
