Believe it or not, there is some fantastic craft cider being produced in the Okanagan and that’s certainly shown by this year’s top three cideries in Best of Kelowna.

If you haven’t already tried these tasty beverages, you may want to consider your drink choice for the next time you’re sitting back with a cold one on the patio.

Gold: BC Tree Fruits Cider

BC Tree Fruits is known far and wide for growing some delicious Okanagan fruit, but did you know that they also have a cidery? You’ll find that cidery attached to the fruit market on Vaughan Avenue in Kelowna, just outside of the city’s downtown core. It’s the perfect place to stop for a tasting while you’re trying out some of Kelowna’s breweries in the area.

The company cans it’s three most popular ciders, which are the apple, pear and apple & hops. However, it doesn’t stop there, as they are constantly trying new delicious flavours that you can try on tap. Head on down to their cidery and fill up your growler with one of their recent creations, which feature flavours like plum, juniper, hibiscus and basil.

Silver: Tree Brewing Beer Institute

“Surprisingly, not everyone likes beer,” reads the Tree Brewing Co. website. “So we crafted Dukes Cider for those looking for an alternative to beer or those looking for a beverage that is complementary to their beer drinking occasions.” We’re sure glad they did, because Dukes Cider is another delicious Okanagan creation and it’s earned a deserving silver in Best of Kelowna 2018.

It’s made with 100% apples from Kelowna and offers a crisp, clean and refreshing taste with a dry finish. If you want a little variety, you can get that with Dukes as well, as they typically have a variety pack with pear and ginger flavours. Unsurprisingly, it’s out of stock at the moment. Try a delicious Dukes on tap at the Tree Brewing Beer Institute or grab a six-pack of cans from the liquor store.

Bronze: The View Winery

Did you know that one of Kelowna’s more popular wineries also makes a delicious cider? Well, now you do, and a bronze in Best of Kelowna 2018 is more than deserving for The View Winery. Ward’s Cider is made from handpicked cider specific apples from The View’s orchards in the sunny Okanagan Valley and it’s also gluten-free.

You can keep it simple with their classic apple cider, but there are a few other types of Ward’s Cider that you can now try. You can grab a six-pack of their Ginger Apple Cider at most liquor stores, or try one of their two new summer 2018 creations. Those are the sangria cider and the hopped cider, both delicious and found in 650 ml bomber bottles.

Other nominees in this category:

Scenic Road Cider Co. and Soma Craft Cidery.
