The best places to grab a beer in Kelowna

Mmm, beer.

Kelowna’s brewery scene has been growing into an impressive one over the last few years, which is great news for beer fans! These businesses offer the chance to try new brews with local twists, and are always coming up with creative new flavours and combinations.

Here is a little more information about the best breweries in Kelowna, as voted by you!

Gold: BNA Brewing Co.

BNA Brewing Co. is a fairly new addition to Kelowna’s food and beverage scene, but is already getting a ton of positive attention. In the past two years since BNA first opened it’s doors, the brewery/restaurant/nightlife hot spot has already taken home several Best of Kelowna medals.

BNA is an independent craft brewery located in downtown Kelowna and has its own tasting room and eatery. It’s become extremely popular due to its great food, atmosphere and, of course, beer. As they like to say, “at BNA, beer is boss”! Their Brewmaster, Liam, worked for Granville Island Brewery in Vancouver before making the move to Kelowna. You can enjoy a beer at their bar or take home a growler to enjoy later.

Silver: Tree Brewing Beer Institute

Tree Brewing has been making craft beer in Kelowna since 1996. Located right in downtown Kelowna, it’s a popular spot for locals and visitors to stop for a refreshing beverage (or two).

It’s clear that Tree Brewing finds inspiration in its home town with beers like the Kelowna Pilsner and limited releases like Knox Mountain Brown Ale. The brewery offers year-round and seasonal beers, as well as radlers and other limited releases. Tree Brewing Beer Institute also won Silver in the Cidery category this year.

Bronze: Kettle River Brewing Co.

Kettle River Brewing Co. is a new nano brewery in Kelowna that opened its doors in July 2016. This business is “brewing against the current” with their own unique set up which allows them to make multiple different brews at a time, allowing them to constantly try out new combinations and flavours.

After lots of experimenting, Kettle River Brewing has narrowed down its first three flagship beers: the Loose Canoe IPA, Under the Weather Stout and Open Season Saison. This is Kettle River Brewing’s first Best of Kelowna medal, and we can’t wait to see what the future has in store for them!

If you’re looking to mix up your beer game a little, support a local business and grab a pint at one of these tried-and-true breweries! Already a fan of one of these fine establishments? Let us know which is your go-to brew!
