Secure-Rite Mobile Storage: Innovation beyond the box
At the intersection of storage, innovation, and community lies Secure-Rite Mobile Storage, led by CEO Lucas Griffin. Secure-Rite is not just another storage company; it’s transforming how businesses and individuals think about mobile storage.
Transforming the possibilities of storage
What began as an alternative to traditional moving services has become a dynamic business offering much more than containers. “Twenty years ago, we revolutionized the moving world. But now we see containers used for so much more—it’s really about the creativity of our clients,” Griffin explained. From mobile offices and chemical storage units to pop-up kitchens and workshops, Secure-Rite’s solutions go far beyond storage.
The only real limit? Imagination. “We’ve created electrical rooms—what we call 'e-houses'—and even pizza kitchens in places like Cypress Mountain,” Griffin shared. “We love working in mining and oil and gas too. Our containers can be transformed into spaces for living, working, or both. The flexibility and durability make them ideal for remote and industrial use.”
A commitment to excellence and community
Innovation in storage isn’t all that defines Secure-Rite. According to Griffin, the company’s strength lies in how it treats people—both customers and employees. “We really believe people are important. Everything we do is rooted in that belief, and it takes effort. Excellence feels underrated today, but we remain passionate about it,” Griffin said.
Secure-Rite also actively contributes to its community. “One of our most valued partnerships is with the Central Okanagan Food Bank,” Griffin noted. “With rising inflation, more people are relying on food banks than ever before. Containers are great for storing food, and we support initiatives like ‘Cram the Can,’ where donated food goes straight from our containers to the food bank.”
Staying ahead with technology
Embracing technology is key to Secure-Rite’s growth. “We’re implementing new software with a client portal, making it easier for customers to manage their bookings online, any time of day. It’s about being accessible and providing the best experience possible,” Griffin explained.
Secure-Rite also supports emergency preparedness efforts. “Containers are durable and stand up well to wildfires and floods. We work with organizations like the Coast Guard and wildfire associations to provide secure, portable spaces during emergencies,” Griffin said.
Looking to the future
Griffin envisions exciting developments for Secure-Rite and the communities it serves. “I’d love to see container markets—outdoor malls or funky shops—come to Kelowna. They’ve been successful in places like London and Toronto, and they could provide opportunities for smaller businesses to thrive here too,” he suggested.
With manufacturing operations based in Kelowna, Secure-Rite continues to innovate while supporting local jobs. “All of our high-end modifications are done right here,” Griffin said. “We’re shipping across Western Canada, and we’re also looking at opportunities beyond Canada in sectors like mining and oil and gas.”
The company’s long-term vision remains focused on growth. “We have clear targets for how many locations we want by 2030 and 2050. My role is to keep driving sales and growth while ensuring we stay true to our values,” Griffin added. “Ultimately, it’s about bringing people and portable space together in creative and meaningful ways.”
Best of Kelowna sponsorship and nod
“We were honoured to land gold,” Griffin said, referring to Secure-Rite’s recognition in the Best of Kelowna awards. “We just love being the title sponsor and celebrating excellence in Kelowna. One of the things I love about Best of Kelowna is that we keep highlighting top businesses throughout the year.”
With that focus on innovation and community at its core, Secure-Rite Mobile Storage is poised to lead the way in both business and social impact. “It’s got to be more than just a container—it’s about how we can use what we do to bless the communities we serve,” Griffin concluded.
