Hi! I am a Siberian Husky named OhDear. As in Oh dear... I need a home!
I’m only 6-months-old, so I’m just a baby. You’re guaranteed to get lost in my glacial blue eyes, and you’ll fall in love with my charming personality!
I have not been treated well here in the Middle East. My rescuer found me in an old warehouse. I was fastened to a short chain. I didn't have good food to eat, often it was just bread. I was beaten regularly.
When I was finally found, I was very scared and extremely thin. I also had wounds on my body and I had trouble walking because my feet did not have the strength to hold me up well. I am doing much better now, though poor nutrition has stunted my growth, and I will likely not achieve the full size of most dogs of my breed.
My vision is impaired, so I see mostly shadows and movements. The doctors have said it is a congenital retinal issue. I can find my way around quite well, and I would quickly figure out the lay of the land in any home, as long as you don’t start rearranging the furniture all of a sudden. But I know you Canadians are too kind to do that!
I do very well with people and love playing and touching. I’m the kind of dog that will form a bond with you and just want to follow you everywhere.
I love playing tag with my human or using my nose to find hidden treats. My eyes may be sub par but my sense of smell is becoming finely tuned and I bet I could excel at scent work games. We could even go on long hikes together – we just need is to stay tethered so that I can follow you anywhere.
Probably due to lack of having been socialized with other dogs, I am a bit afraid of them. My reduced vision probably doesn’t help either. I am now good with the dog the rescuer has in her home, but it took some time and I will need careful introductions to new dogs until I feel they are safe. I think I would do best with medium to large dogs because small ones can take me by surprise more easily.
The most important thing for me would be an unchanging environment and a stable routine. Come to think of it, don’t all dogs like that?
If I stay in Iran my future looks bleak. Please give me the chance to know what it is like to be loved and cared for. I will spend the rest of my life giving you back more love and gratitude than you can possibly imagine.
I have not been spayed/neutered, as I am not old enough yet. I am vaccinated & micro-chipped though! My adoption fee is $400. CAD, which includes my airfare to Canada.
