Straight From DeHart - February 25, 2015

Steve Stinson, owner of Black Bear Bar and Grill (formerly The Keg) at 1580 Water Street

After being closed for two months for major renovations, the Black Bear Bar and Grill is now open at 1580 Water Street (Formerly The Keg). Owned and operated by long-time, well-known restauranteur, Steve Stinson, the restaurant offers an extensive menu with a wide variety of sustainable seafood options. Lobster and shrimp are prevalent on the menu, but they also offer “Can’t Swim” favorites for those who are not seafood lovers, along with pasta and some special pizzetta’s. Chef Sean Hansen has relocated from the Delta Sun Peaks to join the team. The décor of the corner heritage building is rustic elegance with a comfortable and casual urban, sort of Yaletown-ish environment. What’s old is new again as the entire restaurant has been renovated from top to bottom, with new upholstery, colours, hemlock bar tables, planked flooring, new pictures and the most wonderful contemporary mural that spans the entire wall of the bar. Open 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and until midnight on weekends. Reservations accepted Sunday to Thursday and Friday and Saturday before 6:00 p.m. Tanner Dillon is the general manager.
