With Kelowna’s Winter Folk Festival Fireside Sessions right around the corner, we thought it was only fitting to chat with the band that got this groovy day of tunes up and running, Wild Son.
The best local band as voted by the people in 2016 is made up of four musicians, all with crazy abilities. Once combined, they create a cosmic force that will satisfy cravings you didn’t know you had with their funk-folk sound. Wild Son has blasted their way through the barriers of Kelowna’s love for electro-pop by perfecting their organic and soulful sound, gaining them a loyal fan base of Okanagan supporters.
What started out as a cozy home jam session with other local bands has now turned into an annual event backed by community support and a love for music but with the same stay at home vibe. Fireside Sessions is in a realm of it’s own as far as music events go in our city. Don’t be fooled by it’s laid back demeanor on social media, this event has a line-up of B.C. musicians of all genres just waiting to blow your minds with their immense talent.
KelownaNow sat down with Aaron DeSilva (bassist) and Mitch Howanyk (violinist) to learn more about how much they love their city, possible new releases and the creation of Fireside Sessions.
The highly anticipated Fireside Sessions will take place at BNA Co. on Sunday January 29th, 2017 starting at 2 p.m. and carrying over to the break of dawn with sweet melodies to serenade you the whole way through. There are only a few tickets left for this great event so make sure you get yours soon!
