2019-01-21 18:30:00 2019-01-21 20:30:00 America/Vancouver The Fourth Annual Burns Supper Hosted by the Kelowna Scotch and Fine Spirits Society A Burns supper is a celebration of the life and poetry of the poet Robert Burns (25 January 1759 – 21 July 1796), the author of many Scots poems. The suppers are normally held on or near the poet’s birthday, 25 January, occasionally known as Robert Burns Day, but more commonly known as Burns Night. However, in principle, celebrations may be held at any other time of the year. Burns suppers may be formal or informal. Both typically include haggis (a traditional Scottish dish celebrated by Burns in Address to a Haggis), Scotch whisky and the recitation of Burns’s poetry. At Kelowna Scotch and Fine Spirit Society, you’ll have the opportunity to imbibe in some excellent scotch and other fine whiskies and spirits, such as bourbon, cognac, rum, gin and tequila. Anyone of legal drinking age is welcome and you need not be a connoisseur. The society is equally a social gathering as it is an opportunity to discover the complexities of both single malt whiskies and other fine spirits, many of which are not easily available in BC. $120 for non-members.
