The contest awards the best new short stories by writers in the Southern Interior of British Columbia. The contest is sponsored by the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies at the University of British Columbia, subTerrain magazine and the Central Okanagan Foundation, with media sponsorship from the Capital News. The deadline for entry is Friday, December 30 2016. All proceeds go towards Creative Writing scholarships at UBC. Prizes are $500 for first prize, publication in subTerrain magazine plus a one-week residency at the Woodhaven Eco Culture Centre in Kelowna; $200 for second; and $100 for third. The three winning stories are celebrated at a reading in Kelowna.
