2018-07-22 09:00:00 2018-07-22 14:00:00 America/Vancouver L'Alpe de Grand Blanc This 60km road bike ride, from Kelowna to Big White, is an incredible challenge for any cyclist. The ride is a fully-supported event with multiple rest stops and refreshments along the route, making this ride open to cyclists of all ages and abilities – from casual to competitive! The ride will feature 2 distances: the full length 60 km ride, and a short 9.8 km hill climb for juniors/youth starting at Gem Lake parking lot and ending at the same finish line. Last year, the 2017 L’Alpe de Grand Blanc saw 205 cyclists make the Valley to Village climb from Kelowna to Big White, with 25-year-old professional cyclist Jordan Cheyne smashing the official race record with his time of 1:48:10. Marg Fedyna, aged 52, won women’s first place for the second year in a row, clocking in at 2:12:22. The 2018 L’Alpe de Grand Blanc will begin at the East Kelowna Community Hall on the corner of McCulloch Road and East Kelowna Road, and then merge onto Highway 33 (at the intersection of Loseth and Highway 33) before making a left hander onto Big White Road and ending in the Village. In the Village, all cyclists will be celebrated as they cross the finish line, with a lively festival atmosphere complete with live music, a delicious post-race BBQ and a huge prizing ceremony. L’Alpe de Grand Blanc is known for its generous prizing ceremony that last year saw over $5,000 worth of prizing up for grabs! Prizes such as the one-of-a-kind L’Alpe de Grand Blanc Polka Dot Jerseys will be awarded to 'The King and Queen of the Mountain' as well as prizes for the fastest individuals and fastest teams – all made possible by our generous sponsors!
