How ridesharing is enabling an increase in sustainable, affordable mobility across Canada and around the world, and the benefits that it would bring to Kelowna.
About our Speaker:
Michael van Hemmen is a Senior Manager for Uber, a technology company that is enabling urban mobility. Based in Vancouver, he oversees Uber's relationships with stakeholders and governments across western Canada. In this role, he helped pass Canada's first ridesharing regulations in Edmonton. Michael has extensive experience leading public policy, finance and business planning teams. Prior to joining Uber, he was responsible for facilitating capital allocation and strategic planning for a multi-billion-dollar business unit operating in the natural resource sector. With a background in politics and election campaigns, he served as Director of Policy for federal Transport Ministers overseeing stakeholder relations, infrastructure spending negotiations, and policy development. Michael has an MBA from the University of Oxford and is a proud father of three.
