1969-12-31 18:00:00 1969-12-31 21:00:00 America/Vancouver Music in the Park A summer concert series held every Friday evening in West Kelowna from the Friday after Canada Day until the end of August at Memorial Park, off of Old Okanagan Highway, with a stunning view of the mountains and Okanagan Lake, the park is a perfect setting to enjoy music by artists hailing form West Kelowna, the Okanagan and further afield! Creative Okanagan has been producing this concert series for the City of West Kelowna since 2012. Performances begin at 6:40 pm, the general format starts with the emerging artist, followed by a 45 minute set by a local band at 7 pm and a 60 minute set by our headlining artist at 8 pm. This year shows on Aug. 11, 18 and 25th will features two sets by the same band. ​Food vendors are on site from 6 - 9 pm. Come early, get a bite to eat, find your perfect seats in the new amphitheatre, feel free to bring lawn chairs or a blanket. They blend together latin, popular, jazz and soul music, influences ranging from Buena Vista Social Club and the Gipsy Kings to Ray Charles, James Brown and Marvin Gaye. Patricia Dalgleish on piano and vocals, Ibriam Stange on lead vocals, Alex Broughton on guitar and Joey Fraser on percussion will bring to the stage fabulous harmonies, original material, and vamped up cover tunes. James Elser - http://jamelser.com Piano player, singer, entertainer James Elser currently lives in West Kelowna, BC. James was born in Calgary where he began playing piano at age 13. After a long hiatus from music, friends and family encouraged James to start playing again. His joy of music was rekindled by a weekly jam band made up of creative, eclectic, professional people, whose pure joy and love of playing music together for fun, brought James out of his cave to start playing again. A true piano-man who will have you singing along! July 14 Swamp Honey - https://www.facebook.com/Swamp-Honey-1022532411151161/ 'Swamp Honey' are considered proponents of musical ‘soul food’ in the Blues, Roots and Soul tradition. Imagine a juke joint with Bill Withers, Bo Diddley and CCR in a jam session with Tom Waits and you get some idea of where Swamp Honey’s deep grooves take you. As a highly talented original trio they have an infectious musical chemistry, they always dish up a retrospective of modern vibes in their dynamic live performances. Featuring Dylan Ranney on drums, Nils Loewen on cello and Graham Ord on guitar. All three cover the vocals. July 21 Mike Huber A well loved local musician with vocals and guitar. Mike is a singer/songwriter who draws from his experiences learning and jamming with musicians such as Jim Cuddy (Blue Rodeo), Carl Johnston (Library Voices) and BC banjo great, Devon Wells. Having honed his craft playing gigs throughout Western Canada and in Europe, Michael comfortably delivers well written originals and puts his own special flavour to well known songs. Jeff Piattelli - http://www.jeffpiattelli.com ​A professional guitarist and vocalist out of Kelowna, B.C. He writes and performs original music while also playing his take on popular covers as well. Having released two albums so far, an acoustic album followed by a full band effort, he is set to release his third album in 2017. His singles "Superman", "Listen In" and "Beautiful Things" have all seen radio rotation throughout the Okanagan valley and he continues to work on his career as a musician. July 28 J.S. Garcia Band - http://www.jsgarciaband.ca Hails from Lake Country BC, and is well known locally for their dynamic energy and crowd-pleasing performances. The band is fronted by the mother and daughter duo of Jenn and Sophia Boal, two singer/songwriter/guitarists whose infectious harmonies and onstage energy has earned the band a reputation for "ballads and sass". Mixing folk, country, pop and rock styles, the band exudes a combination of superb musicianship and chemistry. An evening with the J.S. Garcia Band is always memorable: this is a band that loves what they do, and they do it well. Performing at festivals, wineries, halls, weddings and pubs throughout British Columbia and Canada. The Opera Kelowna Society is a registered non-profit regional opera company and training centre for promising operatic artists. They create high caliber opera that is accessible to both opera lovers and future enthusiasts. Adam Meachem & Friends - https://www.adammeachem.com Adam Meachem is a guitarist and composer based in Western Canada, specializing in guitar-driven atmospheric soundscapes. His proficiency in fingerstyle techniques and mastery of looping & other digital effects while maintaining a classical tone, honed over more than 22 years in the trade, has given Adam the ability to create music on a very wide spectrum that compares to Jesse Cook, Kaki King, Antoine Defour, and Ewan Dobson when performed live.
