This event is a pre-cursor ramp-up to the main festival which will take place on the weekend of January 24th, 25th, and 26th in various locations. JOSHUA SMITH joshuasmith.bandcamp.com What one could suggest as being a Soul-inspired, captivating experience, Joshua is a singer/songwriter who mingles catchy clever lines and infectious vocals in the company of playful story telling. With a nod to “Motown”, Joshua Smith captures tradition and folk-friendly modernism with his songwriting prowess. Imagine if Marvin Gaye, Hank Williams & Paul Simon took a trip to Nashville. WINDMILLS windmillskeepmoving.com On a very basic level, windmills convert energy. As an artist, Windmills does much the same thing, taking personal tragedies, triumphs and memories and transforms them into songs dripping with heartbreak and anguish. Windmills is the moniker of moody indie swoon pop artist, Cory Myraas. A clever songwriter with strong lyrical command, the words in a Windmills song are always accompanied by a soundscape that tells you how to feel. A genuine one-man show, this is a musician in charge of his craft. Windmills has released two full-length records - Keep Moving and 2015’s Measures - and two EPs, most recently 2017’s “Death Of A Ladies’ Man”. Windmills has also completed multiple Canadian tours, secured performance spots at festivals like Riffandia, Canadian Music Week, and Shambhala, and reached the Top 12 of the prestigious 2015 PEAK Performance Project. All the while, his popularity grows, breaking 1,000,000 plays on Spotify in one short year. ICELANDIA www.icelandiaband.com ICELANDIA is a synth-pop outfit from Kelowna BC, whose emotive and undeniably catchy hooks have been capturing audiences since they formed in 2014. Their debut album ‘Kinship’ released in November of 2016 has been described as an amazing artistic accomplishment with singles reviewed by the likes of massive music blogs IndieShuffle and Entertainment Weekly. A followup EP titled ‘Paradise on Earth’ was released in 2018 led by the popular single ‘Miracle Caught on Camera’. The trio have been hard at work in the studio and have new music coming very soon! *Please note, we are not wheelchair accessible* New Arts Collective #5- 375 Bernard Avenue events@kelownanow.com
