Bird Stilt Chorus Workshop
with Levana Prud’homme
Each session will include a warm-up, training and exercises intended to bring awareness to the movement habits stilts require. At the beginner level we work with proper stilt alignment, and can move into movement patterns, improvisation, and transitions to the ground and back. The pace and the content of this work will be responsive to the participants.
The first two sessions will be focused on walking and body movements on stilts.
In the last sessions, participants will learn about local birds and explore their movement qualities on stilts. The workshop will end with a costumed parade, using bird costumes created by Runaway Moon Theatre.
Ages: Families of all ages; stilts are provided; stilt blueprints available at workshop
Max. 10 participants
(Tue-Fri) August 7-10, 6:00 – 8:30 PM | $5 per person
From August 19-26, 2018, an anticipated 2,000 scientists and bird enthusiasts from around the world will be flocking to Vancouver for the 27th International Ornithological Congress and the 1st annual Vancouver International Bird Festival… join in the momentum. Birds are gathering into flocks, preening their feathers, establishing flight patterns, and practicing their calls.
The parade culminates on August 20, 2018, in downtown Vancouver, BC. Starting at Coal Harbour Community Centre and dip and swoop to Jack Poole Plaza at the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre.
