PROX:IMITY RE:MIX Youth Dance Residency
MACHiNENOiSY Dance Society, a Vancouver based contemporary dance company is looking for 10 LGBTQ2+ youth and their allies (aged approx.15-24) to take part in a 2 week artist residency in Kelowna from July 7 - 20, 2019.
Participants will work with MACHiNENOiSY Artistic Directors Delia Brett and Daelik to create an approximately 30 minute performance that explores issues of identity, gender, and community. No previous dance training is necessary, just open-mindedness and interest in co-creating a multimedia dance performance.
Check out a video of a past performance here: https://vimeo.com/286365110
The residency will culminate in a public performance on July 19 & 20 in collaboration with the Rotary Centre for the Arts. Participants will receive an honorarium of $250/week to rehearse and perform.
Queer youth (gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, trans*, two-spirit, gender-fluid, non-binary, asexual, intersex, unsure, questioning, & curious) and all their allies are encouraged to join.
This project is youth driven. The content is created from a series of discussions with the group around issues of identity, trust, self-respect, self-confidence, and touch.
TO APPLY:
Email youthinfo@machinenoisy.com with your full name, age, and a brief paragraph describing why you are interested in participating in this project.
