'COPY - CUT - PASTE' includes 44 Bachelor of Fine Arts UBC Okanagan students and their instructor, David Doody. Together they explore how Google Image Search and the ‘meme’ culture have impacted imagination, image making and storytelling in the post-digital era. Hito Steyerl's essay, ‘In Defence of the Poor Image’ was used as a reference point to guide the students’ search for value and meaning within the rising tide of imagery that subsequently submerges and defines contemporary culture. 'COPY - CUT - PASTE' will be on view from March 24, 2023 - April 22, 2023 in the Alternator's Members' Gallery. The Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art is open Tuesday to Friday, 11am - 6pm, and Saturday 11am - 4pm. To learn more about this exhibition visit www.alternatorcentre.com.
