Binding Canada Together; One Quilt at a Time
The Orchard Valley Quilters Guild holds a quilt show every two years. Our next show, Binding Canada Together: One Quilt at a Time will be a celebration of Canada's 150th birthday. The show will be held Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the Okanagan Mission Hall and in the adjacent log cabin.
Binding Canada Together: One Quilt At A Time will showcase traditional quilts, applique work, fibre art, and wall hangings to inspire all. As well as a Merchant Mall, the Boutique will have numerous items created by our members for sale, all $20 and under. A great place to purchase gifts! Another station of interest will be a demonstration area with quilters sewing, a good opportunity to ask quilt related questions and inquire about our creative and productive guild.
To celebrate Canada 150, we will have several Canadian themed projects displayed. Nine members are busy creating Rock on Canada, projects depicting the minerals of Canada, while 9 others are depicting Nature from Coast to Coast. These art pieces will use numerous innovative techniques including rusted fabric, Tyvek, gems, embellishments, painted and dyed fabrics. We will also be unveiling our special Canada 150 Quilt Project: Women Shaping Our Nation which has been many months in the making.
