Wood N' Reels Fishing Derby
Wood Lake RV Park & Marina is proud to announce that we will be collaborating with local fisheries biologist to help collect bio sampling and angler surveys during the Wood N’Reels Fishing Derby. Biologists will be on site at the time of fish weigh in to conduct “creel” surveys on each fish that is brought in. This data collection and bio sampling is information that our local fisheries biologist use to help determine the overall health and well-being of the Wood Lake Kokanee stock. Anglers now get to participate in a fun family orientated fishing derby while helping fisheries biologist towards conversation efforts.
We invite you for the whole weekend of April 26-28, 2019, and hope you enjoy fishing on one of the most desired lakes for Kokanee in BC, which is Wood Lake.
Registration is now open!
Registration for the Derby can be done by emailing events@woodlakerv.com, or contacting our office at 250-766-1881 between our business hours of 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. You can also inquire about this event by sending us a message on Facebook!
The registration fee is $100 for the whole weekend at Wood Lake RV Park and Marina if you decide to camp with us, which includes a full-serviced site, firewood, a barbecue dinner, and usage of a boat slip at our marina. (This includes one registration fee. Any additional registrations are $45.00 per person)
Children under 10 are free.
The other option we have is a $45 registration fee for candidates who are only wanting to participate in the Derby.
We have a family of 4 deal which is $150.00 for the event. This includes two adults and two children.
The Fishing Derby will commence early on April 27th, at sunrise, so it is mandatory for registration to be done before the 27th of April to ensure that you will have a spot in the derby, a slip available for your usage, and so you can get out on Wood Lake at an adequate time. Participants can launch anywhere on Wood Lake after registration, all guests must return to Wood Lake RV Park and Marina by 3:00 PM for weigh in.
You will have all day to fish, and the closing time for the Derby is going to be 3:00 PM.
We will have AMAZING prizes for the heaviest fish caught (1st, 2nd, and 3rd.) There will be a youth category (Children under 16) who will have the chance at winning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes as well.
All ages are welcome, as long as everyone has their fishing licenses and are able to present the licenses upon registration.
