2018-06-27 18:00:00 2018-06-27 19:00:00 America/Vancouver Journey Towards Zero Waste – Sharing the ins and outs of living a low waste lifestyle After understanding the overwhelming impact human activity and our lifestyle can have on the planet, Shayne wanted to adapt her lifestyle to live more sustainably and learn how she could make small changes that result in a big difference. Following the 5 R’s of a zero-waste lifestyle (i.e. refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, and rot/compost) Shayne has substantially lightened her impact on our community and world. After witnessing how simple, easy changes added up to a big difference in the amount of waste her household produced, she wanted to share what she has learned through a partnership with the Okanagan Regional Library. It will be the collective action of individuals that will lead to a more sustainable Okanagan Valley, which Shayne is eager to promote and challenge your perspective on the “little things” whose impacts aren’t so little. Join Shayne, on Wednesday, June 27, from 6:00-7:00pm, for a discussion on adapting to a low waste lifestyle. Shayne provides a local Okanagan perspective on zero-waste and will share her journey towards living zero-waste. Shayne will breakdown the 5 R’s of a zero-waste lifestyle (i.e. refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, and rot/compost) in an approachable way, sharing simple and affordable solutions anyone can implement. Zero waste living is not a zero-sum game, there are small changes we can all make that will add-up to a big difference in the amount of waste we produce and the overall sustainability of our planet.
