2019-02-16 13:30:00 2019-02-16 15:30:00 America/Vancouver Mindful Touch + Huggathon (HSG-14) Welcome to the 14th event of Holistic Synergy Group - a 16-week winter wellness group meeting 1:30-3: 30 pm at Rotary Centre for the Arts Saturdays November 17 - March 2 2019 - We are devoted to wellness and community. Access to all 16 events is sliding-scale $111-222 (OR pay-what-you-can - contact Will or Kendra for more details). Have financial means? Pay $222+ to support a community member who does not have the finances. Who needs the pain that comes from sugar-filled commercialized holidays? No thank you. We are all about the love, community, wellness, and inspiration here. Mindful touch is healing touch. We will explore what this means, practice through guided exercises, and then as a group expand on our new-found skills by group-hugging it out. As humans, we not only thrive on connection, we NEED it. We need to connect with ourselves, our surroundings, and other humans. The hands are the extension of the heart chakra and the heart is...well...the heart. Connecting hearts can lead to increased focus, calmness, and more restful sleep while decreasing anxiety, fatigue, and depression. We need touch and we need human connection. Unfortunately, however, our ability to give and receive touch is inhibited by past trauma, stereotyping, and conditioning. Maybe we believe that touch only means one thing, or that touch equals pain. We will explore different exercises that activate our ability to ask permission on the giving end and state our preferences and boundaries on the receiving end. You will learn to feel into what you would truly want, whether it's touching the tips of your fingers together or wrapping arms around each other, and say "no" when you're really not feeling a certain way of touching.  As always, it is your experience and YOU are in control of your experience. You're allowed to come and stand in the corner if that's what makes you happy. Whether you want to join in the mindful touch and hug activities or not, be prepared to develop stronger and more balanced boundaries, strengthen your Truth through using your Voice, and learn that touch can be okay. When you hug someone or someone hugs you, you get that nice little lovey-dovey feeling that makes you smile because the hormone oxytocin is released into your bloodstream. Therefore, hugging makes you a more loving, compassionate, and happy person. Not only is it fun to connect, but also hugs are super good for you: It's science. Positive emotions create physiological benefits for your body. Bring your family, invite your friends. The choice is yours...LET'S CONNECT.
