CIBC Run for the Cure
The CIBC Run for the Cure is a 5k or 1k walk or run that is the largest single-day, volunteer-led event in Canada in support of the breast cancer cause. The CIBC Run for the Cure will take place on Saturday, September 30, 2018 in 56 communities across Canada, including in Kelowna at City Park. The event begins at 08:30am. The theme for the run this year is Strut Your Stuff, so remember to come dresses in whatever makes you feel the most awesome!
One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. It is the most common cancer diagnosis in Canadian women.
Thanks to events like CIBC Run for the Cure, the Canadian Cancer Society has been able to fund progress in breast cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment and care. As a result, fewer Canadian women are dying from breast cancer today than ever before – _since their peak in the mid-1980s, mortality rates for breast cancer are at least 44 per cent lower, and the five-year survival rate has increased to 87 per cent.
