On the first Thursday of each month participating galleries, theatres, cultural facilities, and businesses, along with artists and performers, will throw open their doors with special offerings for explorers, shoppers, and tasters in Kelowna’s Cultural District. The Kelowna Art Gallery will offer free tours of our current exhibitions at 2:30 and 7:00 pm. Discussions will focus on ideas and questions arising from the works of art on view.
Thursday, May 7, 2015: Mitch Mitchell: For Whom you Build. How does our experience as viewers shift when printmaking moves off the wall and into our space as a three-dimensional object? Mitchell is the winner of the 2012 Okanagan Print Triennial.
Thursday, June 4, 2015: A Story of Canadian Art: As Told by the Hart House Art Collection. Does the work of the Group of Seven still have something to say about the Canadian identity?
Thursday, July 2, 2015: Pieces of What? Another in the series of year-long Artist’s Garden Projects in the Gallery’s Rotary Courtyard by artists Carolina Sanchez de Bustamante and Maxwell Sterry. Is the overall statement of this installation a positive, hopeful one, or a concerned warning?
