SNOW! A Frosty Fairytale
Something is preventing the Snow Sisters from doing their job - making snow. Could it be Fiero and his nasty sisters Scorch and Burnella up to their old tricks? Only the children in the audience can help the unlikely heroine and save the day so it can snow in time for the Snowflake festival.
Come see the world premier of “SNOW! A Frosty Fairytale”, an original script created by local Kelowna playwright/musicians Kim Foreman-Rhindress and Jim Rhindress. “We wanted to create an original script that would capture the imaginations of the children while still entertaining their parents,” says writer Jim. “Plus, not just entertain them but also give them an opportunity to participate during the show WHILE entertaining them” adds Kim. “It’s been a lot of fun writing SNOW. We have written lots of songs together but this is the first complete script” says Kim who will also be directing her husband Jim in the show. The result of this couple’s combined creativity is a fast moving and colourful fairy tale of the snow sisters Chillette, Frostina and Flakella’s stuggle to save winter from their cousin Fiero and his sisters with the help of Jack Frost and Mother Nature.
An inventive component to SNOW! is that there will be performances throughout by various well known community groups such as M.A.S.K., The White Sails Chorus, Kitsch ‘n Sync and Mystic Dance. Additionally, there will be a few other groups who are only able to do one or two shows so the result is a show will be just a little different at every performance. “We wanted to create a show that could incorporate many talented groups from Kelowna and give them a forum where they can do what they do best on a big stage” says Kim.
“We are really excited to premier this original piece of theatre and are very excited to have so many experienced and talented actors involved,” says director Kim, “we really couldn’t have asked for a better cast to premier this show.”
Every child will receive their own keepsake snowflake ornament courtesy of Theatre Kelowna Society – a group that has been dedicated to providing quality family entertainment since 1949.
SNOW! A Frosty Fairytale opens November 26 and runs through November 29. Evening shows November 26, 27, 28 at 7:00. Matinee shows November 28 and 29. Tickets can be purchased at www.Selectyourtickets.com at the Prospera box office
