Not only did the event become bigger and better, but the funds needed to support this rapidly growing, recently registered charity have become greater as well, with a fundraising goal of $50,000 for the 2017 gala.

Upon hearing inspiring speeches and a recap of the organization's annual report, it was evident that Kelowna was more than willing to boost this incredible organization, helping these mamas exceed their goal by $2,000.

After attaining a newly renovated space courtesy of another Okanagan mama, Jillian Harris, the funds raised at the 2017 gala will all go directly to the charity’s client services like the At Risk Mama program, an initiative that helps get mamas the larger items they need like necessities such as winter tires and emergency crisis support services to mamas at risk of homelessness.

Guests offered their support in a number of ways. Whether it was bidding on a signed Shea Weber jersey in the silent auction, betting on another big ticket item in the live auction, or selecting a program they wanted to bolster directly at the Giving Tree, the eagerness to help those in our community who need it most was enough for tears to start welling up.

“I’m in awe of the generosity and outpouring of support from our community,” says Mamas for Mamas Executive Director, Shannon Christensen

“It really does take a village and it was really special to celebrate our growth and party on purpose with many members of our village, I am exhilarated and my heart is so full.”
