If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
I would love to spend the day with Preston Bailey. I think it would be fascinating to see how he creates the spectacular designs that he does.
If you were to receive any existing public award, what award would you like to win?
It would be an honor to receive the Chamber of Commerce Small Business Award in Kelowna.
Who inspires you?
My family. They are so supportive of all my endeavors!
What are three things on your bucket list?
Travelling. I’d love to visit Ireland, Tahiti, and Scotland.
Please tell us about a defining moment in your life
When my children were born. The unconditional love that you feel at that moment is amazing. They are little people who adore you and look up to you. Everything that I do is to make sure they are happy.
If you had an enormous yacht, what would you name it?
Lazy Daze
If you could foresee a single day of your future in its entirety, what date would you select?
The day that I finally get to travel to one of the places on my bucket list!
What are you passionate about?
Flowers! I love to create beautiful bouquets and arrangements for others. I also love to play in my flower beds at home whenever possible.
What has been your favourite day of your life, up to this point?
The day I was married. It was a beautiful day in June, and I married my high school sweetheart after 11 years!
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Starting my own business (Tangerine Orchid). I continue to be amazed at the success I have had in such a short period of time.
Where is your favourite place to dine in Kelowna?
I quite like Hector’s Casa on Lakeshore Road in the Mission.
What is your favourite activity or event in Kelowna?
Hiking. There are so many beautiful trails in the Okanagan. It is a great way to connect with nature and enjoy the beautiful place that we live.

We specialize in creating bouquets and arrangements for weddings and special events.

What is your mission?
To create bridal flowers that take the bride’s breath away. I want to make the entire process enjoyable for my clients; from the initial designing and consulting all the way to the big day!
If you could achieve one thing within your field, what would it be?
To have each of my clients be happy with their bouquets and arrangements. I don’t do this work for awards; my reward is having my clients’ vision come to light.
Where do you want your business/organization to be in five years?
I would love to have a few staff members to help with the “behind the scenes” work. That way, I can focus more on the designing, which is what I love.
Who do you consider to be a forerunner within your field?
I have always admired Hitomi Gilliam. She has amazing vision and creativity in the world of floral design.
What three qualities do you feel that your business/organization exemplifies?
Honesty – I will not tell brides what they want to hear; I tell them what will or will not work for their vision.
Efficiency – I strive to respond quickly to calls and emails.
Courtesy – These people are not just a client. Each client is special; they have a dream or a vision and they are looking to myself to bring that to reality.
What would you like to say to your employees/volunteers?
I appreciate every single person who has helped me along the way. Whether it be big or small, I could not be where I am without the help of many people!
What makes you successful? Tell us about it.
I think that gratitude has a lot to do with my success. I love my job and feel fortunate that I get to have an outlet for my creativity. I love picking up my flowers and going to work. There is something magical in taking buckets of flowers and creating what a bride has dreamed about. I really do appreciate my clients putting the trust in me to create what they are envisioning.
If you were trapped in an elevator with several wealthy investors from any field, which field would you want them to be experts in? What would say to them/talk about?
It would be interesting to learn about investments. I would ask where a good place to get started is and tips for growing those investments.
If I could change one thing about Kelowna, it would be:
The traffic in the summer time!
What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The sheer beauty of our area. You can be hiking in the hills, walking in a vineyard and laying at a beach all in the same day. I love the heat of the summer and coming from Alberta, I can appreciate the mild winters.
