Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?

I was born and raised in Kelowna. Kelowna definitely has my heart!

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
My favourite local store in Kelowna has to be Funktional. I love supporting local where I can and I feel as though every time I step foot in this store it was made for me! The staff is also incredibly friendly and helpful!

Describe yourself in one word.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?

The most inspiring thing that has ever happened to me was self-realization and embracing who I am physically, mentally and emotionally. Self love has inspired me to do things that I would have never done before and push myself out of my comfort zone.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I truly believe in giving back. I am an active supporter and give back often to my favourite charity, Little Warriors. Little Warriors is a national, charitable organization based in Alberta. We are focused on the awareness, prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse. They also advocate on behalf of and with child sexual abuse survivors.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
I would abolish hate, and bring peace and love.

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
I usually sneak away to a local coffee shop like Canoe Coffee Roasters and then make my way into nature, such as Knox mountain or the Greenway.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
There are so many incredible things about Kelowna. I admire the beautiful landscapes, the amount of locally owned businesses and diverse community that is ever growing.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?

1- Travel more, there are so many parts of the world I want to see.
2- Have my artwork displayed in a Gallery.
3- Have my own in-home art studio.

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I am a full-time makeup artist.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)

What is the name of your business/organization?

Anna Quartz

What is the goal of your business?
To create art that makes me happy, but also to sell my pieces and have the joy of knowing my piece of work is hanging in someone's space that is being enjoyed.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
My biggest struggle is not having my own art studio, I would love to have an entire studio to work on multiple projects at a time. Right now I am working in a small room in my home that limits my ability to create more.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
I would not change a thing, for everything I have become is a result of what I have done.

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Never give up, ever.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
It is so important to shop locally for a whole host of reasons, including growing our economy, helping an entrepreneur build their future for their family's future. You are supporting someone who will likely give back into the community.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
My proudest accomplishment is having my lovely customers purchase my work because they fall in love with it, this to me is the most important thing to me. Making other people happy!

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
Thank you so much to Portia-Ella in Orchard park mall for featuring my art. This company blows me away by all of the female entrepreneurs they support!!

Some general comments I would like to share are:
Thank you so much for the community of Kelowna and their support with my artwork. I have been met with such love and acceptance as an artist in the community.
My work can be viewed on my website, Instagram and on facebook. I am always accepting commissions!
