Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?
From Edmonton and have lived in Kelowna for 12 years.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My husband Drew is my favorite person to spend time with because he has a great sense of humor, has a positive attitude and we enjoy the same activities.

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
My favorite store is Choices because of their selection of grass-fed/ organic meats and organic produce.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
I would go to Australia to visit my daughter who just went travelling there.

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Golfing and drinking Okanagan wine.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Most embarrassing thing to happen to me was saying 'sex' instead of 'success' at a trade show.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
I recently had a client that I taught 15 years ago reach out to me to tell me that I changed the direction of her life and that I was the most influential person in her life. Not only was I greatly humbled by her message, but I was also touched that I was able to make such a positive and profound change in her life.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
The Christmas that I was 9 years old is one of my favourite memories. My family, aunt and uncle and their two daughters arrived home after midnight mass to find our living room full of presents. It was that year that I received a mini packman arcade game. I just remember all of us vibrating with excitement that Santa had been to our home while we were at Church.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
For years I volunteered with the Big White downhill skiers association. I also give to the food bank and mental health associations as (1) I believe that no person should go hungry while living in a first-world nation (2) there need to be more mental health resources available to people.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Mental health issues. I believe that mental health is really brain health and when we learn how to better care for our brain health, many of the symptoms that are associated with depression, anxiety and ADHD can be significantly reduced.

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
On my deck. Every morning in the spring and summer I sit out to view the lake and reflect on my life, to meditate or to simply think.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
Homelessness is a multi-faceted issue that is very difficult to solve as there are so many layers and issues that would need attendance too. I would like for homeless people to have an opportunity for a clean and safe environment to sleep and eat. However, I think it is equally important for employees and business owners to feel safe walking the streets or at their place of business.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The beauty of Kelowna is undeniable. I have been fortunate to travel the world and Kelowna is still the #1 place I want to live.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1) To present a TED talk.
2) To watch a Grand Prix race in Europe.
3) To have a brain scan done by my mentor - Dr. Daniel Amen.

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I was a plumbers apprentice for 4 years as I worked with my dad every summer during high school and college.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
Face to face is my preference!

What is the name of your business/organization?
Headways Performance Group

Why did you get into/start this business?
I started this business because I know from first-hand experience the importance of caring for your brain and mind in order to achieve results and fulfill your purpose.

What is the goal of your business?
To share with people life-changing strategies that improve their mood, memory, focus, energy and ability to lead others.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
For years I struggled with debilitating brain fog, anxiety and depression. Even though I used to teach others how to overcome their negative thinking patterns, I realized that mental health is brain health, and that greatly impacts your mindset.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
I would do everything the same as it has led me to the place that I am in my life.

What do you always find yourself saying?
Holy Dina!

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Marry someone who has the same goals, interests, values and dreams (GIVD) as you do

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Oprah! I would like to just hang with her underneath her big oak trees, sipping a drink and talking about books, the world in general. I find her to be an inspiration and someone who has overcome odds to be one of the most powerful women in the world.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
Because it supports businesses and families who not only live in Kelowna but also support Kelowna.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
To be married for 20 years to my most favorite person and to have created a beautiful family and life with him.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
My friend Leslie Brydon because she would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. She is selfless and a beautiful spirit.
