Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?
I'm from Pickering, Ontario and I moved here last March!

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
Probably my mom. She's my bestie but lives across the country. Second would be my best friends here in Kelowna Heather and Jade!

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Supplement King Kelowna, great knowledgable staff and I have a slight protein snack issue, so yeah.

Describe yourself in one word.
Aggressive (In the best way possible!)

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Probably Egypt, because Egypt... pyramids, camels... cmon, who wouldn't want to go?

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Hiking or going wine tasting. I also enjoy the odd glass of wine paired with some delicious food.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Probably spilling a caesar all over a guest at my old job in Toronto. I don't think I'll ever live that moment down. The guest not only saved $400 on her bill but she also got a new t-shirt and my dignity. Haha

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Meeting my friend Heather. She's an incredible single mom who looks at the positive side of everything. Whenever I'm about to complain; I legit think to myself... "What would Heather say?" She's the real deal.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Playing hockey in Europe with one of my teams growing up. I actually got to play for a European team for a couple of games in Sweden and I'll never forget it.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I give back by providing free protein snack reviews on my Instagram. Okay no, I'm joking. I want to get into more volunteering mostly at events and things to support local businesses in the area. I also try to shop local and support locally. Whether that is eating at Salt & Brick, shopping at the farmers market or even getting my coffee from Canoe instead of Starbucks.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
I'd make Quest bars $1 each so we all could afford to taste perfection.

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
I like to go in the sauna at my gym. It gives me a second to relax, meditate and re-focus.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
I'd like to the homeless issue downtown to be a bit more controlled and less prominent. Also more local restaurants in the area. Fewer chain restaurants, more local!

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The active lifestyle we all thrive off of, the views & the wine.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?

1. Skydive in New Zealand
2. Run a Disney Marathon
3. Drink Oculus with Prime Minister Trudeau
4. (One more) Eat a quest bar with the creator of Quest (Tom Bilyeu)

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I suffer from anxiety, and I find myself more introverted than extroverted. (If you know me this may come as a surprise as I seem very outgoing!)

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
Instagram: @thelegendofjules

What is the name of your business/organization?
The Protein Snack Queen

Why did you get into/start this business?
I'm basically my own business and I love just being myself and showing others that it is okay to be different and it's possible to stay fit while still enjoying some wine!

What is the goal of your business?

To connect with others.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
I speak up when something bothers me which can get me into trouble at times.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
The same. Everything that has happened in my life thus far has made me who I am today.

What do you always find yourself saying?
Matua

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
"Be you!"

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Krissy Mae Cagney. She's a freaking legend. She started Doughnuts and Deadlifts and is just an all-around great role model for young women, or men, or anyone. She even opened up an unreal gym and offers free memberships for people struggling with their sobriety and battling with addiction. She's awesome. Follow her. @krissymaecagney and @on.the.rode

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
It's super important to support local businesses. The local touches of Kelowna are what make Kelowna so special. Without them, Kelowna wouldn't be the same.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Buying my own condo here!

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
My puppy Pinot. He deserves a shoutout because he has to live with me and deal with all of my Instagram videos. Just kidding! Shoutout to Heather Graham for making me a champagne-themed piñata filled with protein bars. She's the real MVP.

My choice for the KelownaNow In Focus spotlight is:
Matt McDonald at Supplement King Kelowna. He knows his stuff and his business has the best protein snacks around, trust me!
