Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?
I am originally an Alberta girl! The last several years I've been lucky enough to call the beautiful BC home.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
Person(s) My husband Russell, and our two awesome Kids Rowan & Shanelle.

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Morgane. The clothes are so beautiful and the girls there are so helpful & stylish.

Describe yourself in one word.
Momager.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
I would love to go visit the school started by our charity, The Hair Cares Foundation in South Africa. Our current class is mid-way through their first year!

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
When you live in Kelowna it is an absolute must to take advantage of all of the outdoor activities. Summers spent at the lake, winters on the hill!

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
16 years old... reversing out of a parking stall next to a pillar. Took my side mirror clean off. I pride myself on my driving abilities... the ego took a hit that day.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Working with Erin and Daniel with the Hair Cares Foundation. I've been in the health and beauty industry for over 15 years, this is the first time I've ever been able to feel like I'm giving back. Through fundraising and salon contribution through the is. salon group we have been able to support the financial burden of education of numerous individuals in South Africa.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
It's silly, but watching Oprah with my Grandpa after school. He would make popcorn and reserve conversation for the commercial breaks... I think this is where my love for popcorn (and Oprah) was born.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
We really make an effort to get involved with the community as often as possible. We host fundraisers a few times per year at is.Salon Kelowna, such as Dad's & Daughters Styling events, braiding events and even Pet Photos with Santa! Keep an eye on our Facebook events page! @issalonkelowna

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
More accessible recycling programs.

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Chapters, Orchard Park. I love to visit all of the books and meander the isles.

Where would you like to see a positive change in Kelowna and why?
Controversially, the homeless community. I certainly do not have the answer, but I think more resources for the addiction crisis in Kelowna would be a great place to start.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The growth! Kelowna is everchanging and expanding so rapidly. It's exciting!

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1)Travel! Cliché, but I want to see the world and take in all types of culture and cuisine with my kids.
2) Learn how to make pasta from scratch in Italy.
3) Visit an elephant sanctuary in Thailand (those who know me know my obsession with elephants.

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I have an identicle twin sister, Trish.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
Instagram! You'll find me at @issalonkelowna or my personal @savannahljames

What is the name of your business/organization?
is. Salon Kelowna

Why did you get into this business?
This is such a mutually beneficial business. It is empowering to provide a level of service that makes people truly feel like their best self.

What is the goal of your business?
To provide an exceptional salon experience, comfortable atmosphere and charm.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Something I'm currently working on is finding gratitude for all aspects of my life. Embracing the lessons and challenges as they come.

If you could start all over again, would you do things the same or would things be different?
Absolutely not. I believe that we're directed into the paths we are meant to take.

What do you always find yourself saying?
"That looks beautiful!" When looking at the transformations our stylists are creating every day.

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Trust the process. (Thank you Kym, MC College)

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
I must say, going into our busy holiday season, I would choose to spend the day with the management team at in. salon Yaletown and is. salon Yaletown. A collaborative meeting to brainstorm new ideas coming into the new year! Hi Justin, Hi Daniel! (I'll bring the Okanagan wine!)

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
It creates a sense of community while building a stronger local economy.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
A successful first year in business in Kelowna. It makes me so proud to see what the is. salon group has built here, from the ground up!

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
All of our amazing clients! Endless gratitude there! :)
