Where are you from and how long have you lived in Penticton?
Ottawa, 17 years.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My nephew Evander. He just reminds me of what it's like to be a kid once more and to enjoy the little things.

What is your favourite local store in Penticton and why?
Can I say Loco Landing? I know it's not a store but when I have a bad day, I go there for a twister and all is right in the world.

Describe yourself in one word.
Compassionate.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Rainbow Beach, Australia. I was there a few years ago and fell in love with it. I just want to go back and spend my whole day on the beach surfing.

What is your favourite activity in Penticton?
In the summer, longboarding by our amazing beach.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Walking into the women's washroom while I was shooting at one of my weddings and all the bridesmaids were in there - so awkward!

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Meeting Daryl Foster and Nadine Ashby, my new team members. They saved me in more ways than one and made me love my job more than ever before. I don't ever want to do a shoot without them, it's like magic when we're all together!

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Spending time with my grandfather before he passed away. My brother and I would stay with him for weeks at a time in Elliot Lake, Ontario. He was the "Yacht Master" and we would go sailing almost every day. I miss those memories and him, every day.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
SoVas and the Yes project, but anywhere I can really. I love our city so I just want to pay it forward.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
War.

Where would you sneak away to in Penticton to spend some time alone?
Linden Gardens. There is a bench overlooking the lake that most people don't know about. I sneak away to unplug and sometimes have a nap in the upper garden area.

Where would you like to see positive change in Penticton and why?
To bridge the gap between the younger crowd and the older one. Penticton has so much to offer, but we need more activities for younger families.

What do you think makes Penticton great?

All the young entrepreneurs that Penticton has. It's amazing, and I guess the two lakes on either side of us is pretty cool too.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
Skydive
Go back to Rainbow beach Australia
Heli-ski in Alaska

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I sometimes stay up to 3 am after I shoot a wedding to make sure that all the wedding photos get backed up, and so I can send a few sneak peeks to the couple.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
I prefer one on one, I would rather talk with them in person.

What is the name of your business/organization?
Moments Under Frame Studios

Why did you get into/start this business?
I wanted to do something creative.

What is the goal of your business?
To make people happy and to give them memories that will last forever.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
The balance between my work and my personal life. Sometimes it's hard to shut off when I get into the work/photo zone.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
I can't look back it hurts my neck. I am more interested in making my future better.

What do you always find yourself saying?
"BOOM!" when I capture that one magic moment! I yell "BOOM!" I Just get so excited and want to share it with everyone!

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Put the most important thing first in your life. Not work or trying to be the next thing big thing because that will fade. I admire how my buddy Daryl puts his family first.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
My nephew Evander. He is my hero and I miss him. He lives in Calgary so I don't get to see him as much I would like.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
It puts money into the pockets of our locals.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Helping Daryl and Nadine become full-time photographers.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
Has to be Daryl Foster and Nadine Ashby. They saved me and made me better than I ever was. I love them both!

My choice for the PentictonNow In Focus spotlight is:
Fergy Foster

Some general comments I would like to share are:
I just want to be better than I was yesterday. Not just with my photography, but in my personal life as well. I got sidetracked with building my brand, but working alongside Daryl and Nadine showed me there is so much more to life than working. It's ok to slow down a little and enjoy the ride.
