Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?
I've lived in Kamloops for 33 years - most of my life.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
If it were one person, it would be my wife Cristalee. Her passion for her business is contagious. If it's a group of people, it's my guys and our motorcycles.

What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
My new favourite "store" is Orange Theory. It has helped me set small obtainable goals that allow me to reach and prepare for the big goals.

Describe yourself in one word.
Driven.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Africa to hike Kilimanjaro. It's a climb I had to miss due to work and I'd like to get it off my bucket list.

What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
Running. We have such great roads and trails for it.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Singing at my Highschool Grad in '98. The speakers weren't playing the music, my partner (the one that could actually sing) stopped singing, but I just kept belting out the harmony.... the song? I had the time of my life - Dirty Dancing.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
The most inspiring thing that has happened to me is: I was struggling in my business and personal life. I reached out to a few people and asked them to mentor me in Business, Body, Mind, and Spirit. They said yes immediately and then were proactive in not only helping me understand my shortcomings but positively held me accountable. They stuck it out with me until I got out of the "ruts" I was in. It was inspiring that people were so selfless, supportive, and dedicated, it helped me to want to be the same way.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
It's not just one memory, it's a number of them. The warm summer days where I could run around the neighbourhood in Aberdeen and hang out with my friends playing soccer, basketball, street hockey, and having Super Soaker water fights.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I volunteer with the Kamloops Alliance Youth Group - 10 years I coach soccer for my daughter. I mentor young Adults... this last one has started recently just as a passion and love for 20 somethings who are trying to figure out a direction etc. If there is ever anything I can do to help, I want to.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
I would want it to be a safer place, to take away the need for people to fear or protect themselves against theft, murder, or major conflict. I believe that is a pipe dream, but it would be amazing to arrive there.

Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
Kenna Cartwright Park - It's such a peaceful place to clear your head.

What do you think makes Kamloops great?
Kamloops is close to major centres: Kelowna and Vancouver. It has a beautiful outdoors and isn't crowded. Our Realestate market is consistent has minor lows and good growth in home values. It's a great place to raise a family.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. Climb Kilimanjaro.
2. Bungee Jump.
3. Skydive.

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I love Jesus.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?
Facebook and Instagram.

What is the name of your business/organization?
Mortgage West - The Mortgage Centre.

Why did you get into/start this business?
May 5, 2005.

What is the goal of your business?
To help as many people in Kamloops and area experience the pride and profitability of owning a home.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Stepping out of my own way. I have great people that I work with. I find that I get in the way if I don't "stay in my lane" or do my part of the Job.

What do you always find yourself saying?
I'm not willing to accept that yet - personal growth. :)

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Slow down. Be intentional in life: Know what you want, how you feel, be certain what you know, what you need, and build around that. If things fall apart... Rebuild (don't throw away). Look for a passion, not a job.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
No one in particular. Maybe Warren Buffet... the conversation would be interesting.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
By shopping locally, you are supporting your neighbour. Support the people and the economy around you.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
My two Daughters. They are amazing. They work so hard and put so much effort in. That makes me the proudest.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
Steve Forman at Parklane Pools. He's a good worker and even better guy. You should get to know him.
