In Focus | Trish Seaton

Meet Trish Seaton! Trish has lived in PG for nearly 33 years!

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
I will say that my favourite people to spend time with are my niece and four nephews.

What is your favourite local store in Prince George and why?
3 Sisters Rock'n Gems. I bought a beautiful crystal ball there that I use for photography.

Describe yourself in one word.
Kind.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Iceland...my great grandfather was from Iceland and the scenery is spectacular.

What is your favourite activity in Prince George?
Hiking in nature and taking pictures with my Nikon.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
I was so nervous before my friend's wedding that I walked into a glass door.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
I am inspired daily by the people I encounter and the experiences I have. I work in a school and when students say that I've positively impacted their lives, it truly uplifts my soul.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
My favourite childhood memory is riding bikes out in Beaverly with my brothers and going through the trails and finding frogs and salamanders. Another great memory is my mom taking my group of friends out bowling in grades six and seven.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
When the evacuations started last year, I volunteered to help care for the pets at CNC. Animal welfare is very important to me...I'm that person who will stop and move a caterpillar off the road so it won't get run over.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
I would like people to be more empathetic, less judgmental and kinder to each other.

Where would you sneak away to in Prince George to spend some time alone?
Any quiet riverside place.

Where would you like to see positive change in Prince George and why?
I took my eight-year-old nephew to the Prince George Gem and Mineral show in August (great event!) but afterward, he was quite alarmed by some of the things we saw on the streets downtown. I would like children to feel safe out in the community.

What do you think makes Prince George great?
The proximity to nature. There are so many hiking destinations, lakes and forests we can enjoy.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. Travel...especially to ancient ruins, castles or historical monuments. Photography is my passion, and I would love to travel around the world taking pictures of inspiring and mystical places.
2. Try hang gliding and parasailing.
3. Go on a meditation retreat.

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I've always had an intense fear of spiders, so a few years back I went to Exploration Place and asked them if I could hold their tarantula. She was a sweet little thing, and I ended up feeling very protective of her.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?
Instagram.

What has been your biggest struggle either in work or life?
I feel things very deeply so striking a balance between caring and detachment has been difficult but a necessary life lesson.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
I am happy with how things have turned out.

What do you always find yourself saying?
Good job! Great effort! I work with kids. :)

Tell us your best piece of life advice
Stay in alignment with your soul. Be present.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
I'm going to be totally honest and say Jason Momoa! I follow him on Instagram...he's so adventurous and looks like he loves life. He's not hard to look at either. :D

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
It is important to shop locally to support the uniqueness and innovative consciousness of our community.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Becoming the person I am today. Be the person you needed when you were younger.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
My coworkers! Their dedication and humour makes my job so enjoyable.

My choice for the PrinceGeorgeNow In Focus spotlight is:
Caring K9 Institute, a local business owned by my lovely cousin, Krista Levar.
