A poorly poured pint of Guinness is going to earn some Canadians free beer on St. Patrick’s Day.
Slatterys Pub in Dublin is offering anyone with a valid Canadian passport a free pint of “perfectly poured Guinness for a few select hours on St. Patrick’s Day.
The offer comes after the drinking world was outraged by an ad from the Railtown Cafe in Vancouver, which showcased a poorly poured pint of Guinness.

In response to the outcry, Railtown Cafe offered anyone with a valid Irish passport a free pint of Guinness and a shot of Jameson on St. Patrick’s Day.
“We’re not all a bunch of maple-syrup drinking snow farmers and to make up for the blasphemous pour depicted in the photo, we’ve poured another pint that we hope is worthy of Ireland,” said Railtown Cafe’s Facebook post. “In true Canadian fashion, we'd like to apologize, so we’re inviting anyone of age with a valid Irish passport to join us this Friday, St. Patrick’s Day, for a perfectly poured Guinness and a shot of Jameson.”
Now Slatterys Pub in Dublin has flipped the script, making the same offer to Canadians who are spending the holiday in Dublin.
At least one Canadian has already taken advantage of the offer as night falls on Dublin.
Although the majority of Canadians won’t be able to take advantage of this St. Paddy’s Day offer, it’s nice to see a couple of pubs on opposite sides of the world have some fun with what started as a mistake.
