“There comes a time when you've simply had enough.”
That's the opening headline for an impressive new campaign called Stop the Beauty Madness that is starting to make the rounds on social media.
It's a pseudo-ad campaign started by author Robin Rice that is geared towards women standing up for themselves and proclaiming that they are finished putting up with the impossible standards that make women feel like they are not enough.
“We both know that women can no longer sit back and hope someone else stops the beauty madness,” says a statement on the site. “It's an inside job first, of course. But then it becomes a real-world community job. We are the choir on this, so let's sing loud and proud!”
To accomplish this objective, #StopTheBeautyMadness has developed some powerful messages through some typical and some not-so typical images accompanied by sometimes-harsh slogans that seek to deconstruct some of the wrong thinking that is pervasive in our society. The site puts it best:
“Part of this includes calling out the ugly truths hidden in our culture and our own minds. That's what this campaign is about. It's about strong words that reveal the ideas that need to be seen for what they are. It is not always pretty to see what is hidden deep in our psyche (or even just slightly under the surface), but it is important to see it clearly so that we may call it out and change it.”
