10 must visit Okanagan ice cream shops

It’s officially the first day of summer and we are welcoming it with arms wide open! What better way to celebrate than discovering some of the best ice cream spots in the Okanagan? Whether you like ice cream, gelato, froyo or slushies, grab a friend, enjoy some sunshine and indulge in summer with some cool treats!

These types of ice creams are offered all over the Okanagan, you just need to know where to find them. Here are a few of our favourite places that are worth trying.

MooLix

Enjoy your Sunday with a sundae!!!! French vanilla ice cream, cookie dough bites, chocolate sauce, whipped cream and sprinkles in one of our waffles bowls! #moolix

This one is a given, but Moolix downtown is THE place for soft serve ice cream in Kelowna. With over 40 flavours, Moolix has a little something for everyone, including a few flavours of sorbet. Not only does Moolix provide delicious ice cream, they also make their waffle cones in-store. It’s hard to pass up the smell of waffle cone and your favourite ice cream flavour when taking a stroll downtown Kelowna.

Tickleberry’s

Need something to do on the weekend? Take the trip to Ok Falls to enjoy 72 flavours of ice cream at Tickleberry’s. Tickleberry’s is located in a funky gift shop, in the heart of Ok Falls. From local crafts and jewellery to garden accessories, Tickleberry’s is more than just a great place to stop for ice cream. Plus, you can get your own in-house made fudge!

Screamers

If you like soft ice cream and slushy, a screamer is your new best friend. Woodsdale General Store in Winfield and at your local Mac’s stores, combine the two cold treats for a delicious concoction for you to enjoy year round.

Gelato Spots

Italian style ice cream, gelato is made with a base of milk, cream and sugar and flavourings. Richer than typical ice cream, gelato is a perfect blend of your basic flavours and is a great way to indulge in a delicious treat.

IITavolino

Places like II Travolino, located in the Lower Mission, is the perfect spot to get Italian treats and ice cream. II Tavolino has more than just gelato, but their gelatos and sorbetto are your key to a great dessert.

Artisto Gelato

Joining in on the Italian delight is Artisto Gelato. Find them downtown Kelowna hanging out by Stuart Park, in-store or by the scoop. Artisto Gelato takes pride in being carefully handcrafted Italian ice cream, that is rich in flavour and quenches your palate.

Carmelis Goat Cheese Farm

Finally, Carmelis Goat Cheese Farm in East Kelowna is definitely a gelato you need to try. Made on-site with goats milk, the incredible taste of this gelato will have you coming back for more. Try a scoop of Carmelis gelato while taste testing goat cheese and taking the time to bond with some adorable goats!

Froyo

Froyo, meaning frozen yogurt, is a great alternative to ice cream, with the same great taste. Although it is looked at to be a healthier option than ice cream, we can’t say the same with the amount of goodies we put on it. Menchies, Peachwave, Tru, and Goji’s, just to name a few, are some wicked spots in Kelowna to try amazing flavours of frozen yogurt.

Bonus!

We've added an 11th place to get a cool treat! Falling under the Gelato category, QB Gelato just recently opened their doors here in Kelowna. Perfect timing, we might add! QB Gelato specializes in creating delicious, handcrafted gelato out of locally sourced, organic ingredients. With 15 different flavours of gelato on their menu, including a vegan option, QB Gelato is a place for everyone!

Holy cacao! Unreal gelato find! The new @enjoyqbgelato is beautiful both inside (the gelato) and out (in the tasting room). Yes, I am calling it a tasting room because that is what it is- a great space where u are invited to taste thru their delish flavours like carrot cake, orange blossom (my instant fave), and the incredible holy cacao- a luxuriously creamy non-dairy option. Get it by the cup or take some home for your dinner party. I'm bringing home the orange blossom for a middle eastern themed dinner I am making tomorrow for a @themarketcook recipe. It's Terroir gelato- made with local Sicamous cow's milk at DDutchmen Dairy. I had a great visit with owner Kevin who is excited about finding more and more local sources and inspiration. Go visit them and have a taste! 🍨
