When PG’ers have a hankering for quality, good eats- pretty much everybody recommends Zoe’s Java House.

The PrinceGeorgeNow team had to see what all the fuss was about, and we can verify that the word on the street is true.

As we entered the café, the immediate aroma of savoury meets sweet filled our senses.

Can we have one of everything, please?

After scoping out a spot to hunker down for awhile, we selected a cozy couch-filled corner fit for a king-sized crew.

We ordered so many amazing goodies, but some of the star performers were the tantalizing cinnamon buns and the crema-rich lattes.

Oh- and the sandwiches. Let’s not forget that soup.

PrinceGeorgeNow spoke with Zoe’s Java House owner, and no, her name isn’t Zoe.

Loretta Minke and her family moved to Prince George from the Okanagan with the dream of running their own business over 20 years ago.

Shortly after arriving they opened up Zoe’s, which immediately garnered an acclaimed reputation among locals.

So much so that they had to relocate nine years ago to accommodate their growing customer base. Loretta attributes a large portion of their success to her dedicated team of hard-working employees.

Her staff care deeply about their customers, and it is certainly felt around the city.

In addition to the top-notch service, Zoe’s Java House strives to deliver fabulous food and beverages by using only the finest ingredients.

“We decided to serve organic, fair trade coffee, fresh baked goods, soups, salads and sandwiches,” says Minke, who has loved being a part of the downtown Prince George revitalization movement.

“Prince George is a great place to have a business and to live. It’s been great to meet people and many of our customers have become friends.”

Fun fact: Zoe’s Java House was actually named after Loretta’s dog.

Why we love it: It’s got to be the comfiest café in all of PG! And they showcase live music events as well.
