On Thursday afternoon, team members from KelownaNow and Kelowna Chevrolet set out to surprise the second recipient of the Give Someone A Lift campaign.
Give Someone A Lift is a contest created by KelownaNow and powered by Kelowna Chevrolet, where people within the community nominate a peer, co-worker, friend or family member that they think need a little pick me up.
The team met up to surprise winner, Brenda Phillips, with a $250 gift card to the Delta Grand Hotel that is valid for any of their amenities, along with a KelownaNow Balloon Boquet and a note from her friend and nominator, Maggie Stutchbury.
Stutchbury nominated Phillips as a way to brighten her day and lift her spirits.
"Brenda is a strong, amazing woman. She lost her husband to cancer last year, she still struggles daily with mourning the loss, they were married 20 years," wrote Stutchbury in the nomination form.
"She is the first to volunteer to take extra shifts when her coworkers call in sick, even on Christmas Day. She has a heart of gold and really deserves this wonderful gift," added Stuchbury.
