It's time for Kelowna to push for change.
On Saturday June 14, Inn From the Cold Kelowna will host its 3rd annual Push to End Homelessness, a shopping cart race with a purpose.
In a celebration of community spirit, Kelowna businesses and residents will join together for this fun race to raise awareness for the plight of homelessness and funds to support the shelter's first housing project.
Participants will gather at the Inn From the Cold location on Sutherland Ave, decorate their carts and then race towards Kerry Park. The race is an Amazing Race-style challenge throughout Kelowna with teams finishing at Kerry Park by 1pm.
Kerry Park will be the site of a celebratory BBQ lunch where valuable prizes will be given to team with the most pledges raised, top finishers and best decorated cart in both adult and youth categories.
Local businesses can support the Push to End Homelessness by sponsoring a team, making a pledge to an existing team, or donating a prize.
Everyone that wants to help is invited to:
Form a team and raise pledges – team goal is to raise $1000 – this sponsors one person for a month and a half stay at our shelter.
Attend the delicious BBQ lunch at Kerry Park where 100% of proceeds go directly towards helping persons experiencing homelessness in Kelowna.
The Push to End Homelessness acknowledges that homelessness is a community problem – one requiring a community solution. By bringing the community together for this fun family event, Inn from the Cold Kelowna hopes to inform and inspire local residents on how we can pull together and help put an end to homelessness
