A video filmed during a beer league hockey game at Royal LePage Place in West Kelowna is taking the internet by storm.
The altercation took place during the third period of a Pacific Adult Hockey League game between the Flamingos and the Rumble Bees on Feb. 17.
With the Flamingos up 8-1, tempers begin to flare and a scrum ensues in the corner.
As two players are being split up by the referee, Flamingos goalie Tyler Fortin grabs the stick of Rumble Bees player Erik Dion and skates back towards his net.
What he does next is almost diabolical, as the goalie wedges the stick into the net and snaps it with ease.
When Dion notices what’s happened, he skates towards Fortin and angrily says, “are you f***ing kidding me?”
He tries to get at the Flamingos goalie, but Fortin skates away and another minor melee ensues between the rest of the players on the ice.
A number of penalties were handed out and it appears as though Fortin was ejected from the game, because the Rumble Bees scored three more goals in the final 10 minutes, all into an empty net.
According to one of the referees, the man filming was the league commissioner, who informed the goalie after the game that he’d be paying to replace Dion’s broken stick.
Fortin was also suspended two games for his actions.
The video has been shared all over the internet today by websites like TSN, Spittin' Chiclets, Barstool Sports, Jay and Dan and more, garnering thousands of likes, comments and shares.
