Stunning Photos Capture Storm That Rolled Through Ontario

Thunderstorms swept across much of southern Ontario on Sunday, creating some incredible views and immense force.

Environment Canada issued a thunderstorm warning and tornado warning for multiple areas on Sunday, with many cities experiencing high winds and heavy rain. Storm watchers captured some incredible views of the clouds barrelling in a mass across the sky, looking almost like something out of an apocalyptic movie.

Though there are some reports of funnel clouds, no tornadoes have yet been confirmed by Environment Canada. The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) report that there was extensive damage to buildings and property from a severe weather event through the area of Minto. The police say that one home was severely damaged, while another received moderate damage. A chicken barn and cattle barn were destroyed, and the OPP themselves had damage to five police cruisers.

Hydro One reported that over 47,000 customer were without power as a result of the storm, and over 25,000 of these were still without power on Monday morning.

Check out the photos of the powerful storm below.
